Meet Esme — The Heart Behind EMH Therapy
My name is Esme Mary Honnie Beaney, and I am a fully qualified, accredited holistic equine therapist offering Equine Healing & Communication, Massage Therapy, and Sensory Enrichment. My work is grounded in compassion, intuition, and a lifelong connection with horses.
From a young age, I discovered that I experience the world differently. As I shared in my personal writing, “When I was 7 or 8 years old I was diagnosed with dyslexia… then dyspraxia and high‑functioning autism” These differences don’t limit me — they shape the way I understand horses.
I don’t see my neurodiversity as a barrier. In fact, as I wrote, “It is in fact my literal superpower… my autism allows me to view the world in a different way to others, and has given me the ability to hear the voices of horses.”
This unique way of perceiving the world allows me to connect with horses on a deep, intuitive level — noticing subtle shifts in energy, emotion, and behaviour that others may miss.
A Life Shaped by Horses
Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. From early rides on a cheeky Shetland pony named Rupert to the many ponies who taught me resilience, patience, and partnership, each one has guided me toward the work I do today.
As I wrote, “I have had Buzz for 6 years… he is the reason I have got into energy work” Buzz — my beloved Welsh Cob — has been my greatest teacher, inspiring me to pursue equine healing professionally.
My journey has included:
- Level 2 Technical Diploma in Equine Care (Distinction*)
- Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management
- Diplomas in Equine Healing & Communication, Massage, and Sensory Enrichment with the Healing Animals Organisation (2024–2026)
This blend of academic training, hands‑on experience, and intuitive sensitivity forms the foundation of EMH Therapy.
How I Work
Because of my neurodiversity, I communicate best when things are calm, clear, and respectful. As I explained, “I do not like eye contact or to be touched by people I don’t know… this will make me feel really uncomfortable and I may shut down.”
This honesty helps clients understand how to support me so I can give their horse the very best care.
What I can promise is this: When I’m with your horse, I am fully present. I listen deeply. I follow their lead. And I treat them with the same gentleness and respect I give my own.
My Approach
I work holistically — supporting the emotional, physical, and energetic wellbeing of every horse I meet. My sessions are calm, intuitive, and always guided by the horse’s comfort.
I believe:
- Horses communicate constantly
- Healing happens when they feel safe
- Every horse deserves to be understood
- Connection is the foundation of wellbeing
My goal is to help horses feel heard, balanced, and deeply supported — and to help their guardians understand them more fully.
Beyond the Yard
Outside of equine therapy, I’m a creative soul. As I wrote, “I have recently taken up creative writing and I love drawing… I do lots of meditation, Qigong, drawing, writing, listening to music, playing electric guitar, bass and piano.”
Music, art, nature, and animals all feed into the calm, grounded energy I bring to my work.
